Banana plantation is a tasty fruit. This fruit gkowi in many parts of the is land.
There are many tvarieties of banana plantation Sini, Ambung, Anamalu,
Embul, Martaman, Rathkehel, Binkehel, Hondarawala, Watupalu, Kolikuttu,
Suwadel and alu kehel are some of them.
Banana plantation is a good commercial crop.
Banana plantation grows in bushes. In wet and dry zones alike.
Banana plantations grow inbunches. They are sold in combs.
Bunches or as fruits. Many farmers grow Banana plantation as their main source of income.
When ripe the banana plantation. Fruit takes a yellow. Green ,or red colour.
It is a fruit suited fro patients and infants alike. Not only humans.
Even animals and birds are attracted to the banana plantation fruit.
Many types of food and biscuits are made with banana plantation.
The banana plant is propergated through plants.
The banana plantation bush does not have a main root or core.
The tree mainly contains water. The tree and fruits are used for
various religious rituals as well.
The raw banana plantation can be cooked as a vegetable.
Even the kehel muwa (banana plantation flower) makes a good vegetable or mallum.
The leaves and trunk is used for decorating purposes during speci4c functions.
The banana plantation is not only a tasty fruit but also has a high nutrition value.

Nelli

Nelli is a very tasty fruit. It has a uniquely mixed sweet and sour taste.
There are seve several types of nelli.
Among them are medicinal nelli ordinary welli and alower (mal) nelli.
The nelli tree grows tall and bic.And the fruit is some what round in shape.
The seed fro mgo in the cantre of the fruit is hard.
Nelli is propaeated through seeds and roots.
The nelli tree trunk is strons and hard.The leaves are fromed in the shape of sprigs
The fruits are a favourite amowe chicdren. Nelli is an essential item for aurvedic
treatment.
Tender nelli is dried cut and mixed with brasakinda to make a delidlous drink.
This drink is used as for various religious rights.
peopce pluek and seell nelli for a living. The main root is very strong .
When ripe the fruit is takes a greenish yellow.
Not only humans but animals also like to eat nelli.
The nelli fruit contains water and a acid flavour.
The bark has awhitish a whitish appearance.
Nelli is not oncy pelisious but a nourishins and valuable fruit.

Galaudatenna

Galaudatenna
Galaudatenna is a beautiful location in Mawela. It got its name simply because, it is a large flat area of land on top of a huge rock.
Galaudatenna has a long history. Many creepers, shrubs and fruits like pineapple grow on this rock. The Udumulla tank and a
monastery lie on one side and the Manila temple is on the other side of Galaudatenna.There is a lovely pond on the top of this rock.
There is no historical or written proof but the shrine and the chaitya provide some evidence of the site’s ancient past.
The chaitya was once gone into ruins but has now been renovated. Old cart tracks on the rock provide evidence of its use during
ancient kings’ times.
About 20 houses have been built in the region. Those living in the area are mostly farmers who have their cultivations on Galaudatenna.
Transportation is done by a foot path that falls across the rock and connects to the main road. A small paddy field on the rock adds
beauty to Galaudatenna.
A quarry maintained on one side of the rock contributes to the gradual distruction of the ancient beauty of Galaudatenna

Our Village Temple.

The temple is situated in our beautiful village called Damahana. the temple is named Sri Ginendrarmaya Temple and it is attractively constructed. As one walks up the road leading

To the temple you reach a flight of steps.

The temple has a shrine room. A Bo tree, Residence, Meeting hall and a bell tower. The incumbent priest is Rev. Wimalabuddhl. The former priest was Rev. Dammakara. The temple owns its vehicle.

This temple has been renovated from time to time.

Devout worshippers come to the temple every poya day to observe sil. Other than sil many meritorious functions are conducted at the temple.

The Sunday school is held every Sundays. The temple has developed vastly over the years.

The Wakadamulla Quarry.

The Wakadamulla quarry is situated in the beautiful village called Damahana. The Wakadamulla tank and paddy fields are in the same area as the quarry. A scenic path through the quarry leads to the thick forest that lies above the quarry.
When the rock in this quarry is blasted a thunder like sound surrounds the whole village. Birds and animals are frightened by this noise are scatter throughout the forest.
The Quarry owner is M.L. Ariyapala. Around nine to ten people are employed under him. Mr. Ariyapala has his own lorry. Lorries and tractors frequency come to the quarry to trans port stones and rubble to various destinations in the area.

The lake of Waekadamulle.

The lake of Waekadamulle is situated in the village of Damahana.
This lake is very beautiful. A delightful stream of water flows
gradually to this lake and there is a very large forest around the lake.
This lake nourishes all the paddy fields and other cultivations in the village surrounding it.

Most of the people in the village use the water from the lake for agricultural purposes.
Many people also use lake water for bathing and washing. Water collects to the lake naturally from
springs.

We know that the history of this lake goes back about hundred years.
Plenty of wild animals go to this lake to quench their thirst. To reach this lake, first of all you have to
proceed to the v
illage of Damahana and turn to ‘Wilpita Road’ until you find a foot-path that leads off the road to the lake.
The government of Sri Lanka funded the reconstruction work of the lake through the Association of
Farmers
at ‘Damahana’. As a result of this work, there is now a gush of water rapidly collecting in this lake.
